Submission Guidelines

General Submissions

Scrivener Creative Review welcomes submissions for art, photography, poetry, and prose. General submissions will be accepted throughout the year and considered alongside specified calls for submissions. We encourage all forms of writing and visual art, especially but not exclusively, experimental projects. Contributors should note that Scrivener does not accept previously published works, whether or not the author has retained copyright. Furthermore, contributors who have submitted their work to multiple publications must immediately inform Scrivener of any acceptances.

There are two methods of submitting to the Review:

Submissions must be included as an attachment and will not be accepted if they appear in the body of an email.

Please note that hard-copy submissions will not be returned unless a request is made and a SASE is included. Online submissions should be in one of the following file formats:

  1. Written Work: .DOC, .TXT, or .RTF
  2. Visual Material: .TIF

The following guidelines must be followed in order for your submission to be evaluated:

  • A cover letter that includes your current contact info (Name, Mailing Address, Email Address, and Phone number), a short biography, and publication history (when possible).
  • Art and Photography submissions: must be sent directly by mail or email (do not send us a link to your work); must be in black and white format; must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi; no .JPEG or .GIF submissions will be accepted. Please indicate the medium of the artwork being submitted (digital, analogue, etc.). There is no limit to the number of pieces you may submit.
  • Fiction and Prose submissions: no more than 2 pieces (the total word count of the submission should not exceed 10 000 words).
  • Poetry submissions: no more 6 poems (no submission should be longer than 15 pages).

Submissions will be considered to appear either in print or on the Scrivener website. Selected contributors will be contacted in order to approve the proposed publication. All other contributors will receive notice of the status of their submission only if they provide an email address. Please address all further inquiries to info@scrivenerreview.com.
